The General Automobile Insurance Services, Inc. (The General) is a licensed insurance agency that is a subsidiary of PGC Holdings Corp. (PGC) which is an affiliate of American Family Insurance. Through its insurance company subsidiaries and their predecessors, PGC has been writing automobile insurance in many states throughout the country for nearly 60 years, and is a leader in the low-cost auto insurance field.

The General (an agency) offers auto insurance online underwritten by the following insurance companies: Permanent General Assurance Corporation (NAIC #37648), Permanent General Assurance Corporation of Ohio (NAIC #22906), and The General Automobile Insurance Company, Inc. (NAIC #13703). These insurance companies have been recognized by AM Best for their financial stability with ratings of A (“Excellent”), which is the 3rd highest out of 13 ratings. Although our physical offices are in Louisiana, we offer coverage across 47 different states. Do not confuse cheap car insurance with insurance of lesser quality. How do I add a vehicle to my policy?

Once logged in select “Make Policy Changes” from the menu on the right side of your Home page. Review the disclaimer then click on “Make Policy Changes” again. From there you are directed to a new page; select the appropriate driver and enter your driver’s license number for verification, then click on “Continue”.

On the next page you will indicate the date you would like the change to start. The current date will already be selected, but if you need to choose another effective date you will select that option. You will then indicate the type of change you wish to make by selecting one or more of the available check boxes. Enter the effective date then click “Begin Quote” to be taken to the main quote page.

To replace and/or add a vehicle, please click on the “Vehicles” tab. If you wish to add a vehicle, click “Add vehicle” and enter the VIN. If you wish to replace a vehicle, locate the vehicle listing you wish to remove and click the “Replace” option on the right of that vehicle listing. Doing so will then give you the option to enter the VIN for your new vehicle. Make all necessary changes in the applicable sections by answering the questions listed; all questions must be answered, or a quote will not be displayed.
